ASP.NET or PHP

Well I have been debating whether I should rewrite the site in ASP.NET or PHP. They both are great technologies with which I would use a javascript library called jQuery. It makes things fast and friendly.
The problem I am running into is double entry. I hate having a script that contains everything I need to parse into the format and having to do double entry for all the characters and scenes and what nots.
Because of this I want to write some software that is for scriptwriting that will be in a friendly format so I can store the information in a format that can be easily parsed.
It is still up in the air. I am planning on at the very least making this current site more sexy with some jQuery so it runs fast and is easier to use.

Password Recovery & More

I finally have password recovery working. I will be making it so that you can put in either your username or email and it will send you your password in an email.
I though I required an email address to use the site but evidently some got through that don't have them, so I will be enforcing that as well.
I have been working on the file storage to make it more secure. I will be creating media links so that there is no direct link to the files on the server. Also that you can set a date range for when I file will be available to download.
I have been also working on a way to port the projects you want to display on your own site from this one. It will be in the form of an RSS feed that you can parse and display how you want. It will have support for multiple images and a link to multiple movie files as well. I did this to help those who have websites but want to maintain their projects here.
I am also working on image handling in the locations, wardrobe and location photos.

I usually don't bother a ton with making websites pretty from the start, which I didn't with this one but it was time for a change. So, while fixing some programatic problems I updated the look of the site.
I will be working on locations next. It will have the ability to store the photos and link them to specific locations. At the same time this will allow me to do the same with Wardrobe. |
More Security

I added more security on the main production page so that admin, modify, read and disable permission types actually work. I also fixed some small problems with folders. The files aren't in the final security phase but they are getting close.
I am also working on adding uploading images to both wardrobe and locations. |
Secure Storage Folders

I have made the folders that hold the project information more secure. They are now listed as a GUID. For those that don't know its a very big number that is in hexadecimal. So basically impossible to guess. I will eventually adding a portion to hide the folder location 100% and have the files streamed to you, making even more secure. Directory browsing it turned off but I like things to be as secure as possible.
I didn't want to release the use of this site to anyone but close friends until I had at least done this. Feel free to let me know if something is confusing or if you have an idea about the site.

Its all about people and what they do. Thats what im currently working on. Cast and Crew and how it links to the different roles in the filmming process.
I hope the interface will be relatively easy to use. I am planning to use this as either a printout for when people do credits or possibly as a file to import from. |

Add/Edit/Print is done for Notes, Props, Equipment and Locations.
I will be adding the following capabilites - add Physical Addresses and Link them to your Production Locations.
- Private notes.
- Fixing Cast and Crew. And linking cast to characters.
- Menu system look update for production related headings.
- Doing Research on other heading required for production.

Reworking Session

Im working on rebuilding the way the site handles sessions and cookies. All this so Mike can access the site from his antiquated, obsolete and inferior technology can login and access the this kick ass website. Just messin Mike :) . Oh and this means that the site might not be available for a few hours today. Hopefully working correctly by 5pm MST. |
Working the Ideas

Ok I reworked the ideas. I made it so they all have a sort id and they always sort by this. I also made it so that comments are always linked to the idea. I think I will make it so the comments can be hidden. My vision of this is that when its done you can put in ideas and comments untile you have an entire story idea. When thats done you should be able to take this outline and write the script. Or compare the script to make sure its on track. |
